 Jay S. Dworkin, PhD

 Jay S. Dworkin, Ph.D. is a Senior Physicist at FONAR Corporation in New York. Since 1984, he has worked in several scientific, product development and marketing positions related to both the design, manufacture and installation of the company’s magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) equipment and the operations of its subsidiary Health Management Company of America (HMCA) that provides non-medical management services for medical diagnostic imaging centers.

He is the co-editor of the recent book The Craniocervical Syndrome and MRI from the medical and scientific publisher S. Karger based in Basel, Switzerland. In 2002 he co-authored a chapter entitled “Upright, Weight-bearing, Dynamic-kinetic MRI of the Spine” in the textbook Spinal Restabilization Procedures published by Elsevier Science. His chapter “The Technology and Potential of Open MRI” appeared in the textbook Open-Field MRI published by Springer-Verlag in 2000. His article on MRI gradient performance appeared in the January 1998 Clinical Magnetic Resonance Society’s Vision Newsletter.

Dr. Dworkin earned his Ph.D. degree in Physics from the University of Michigan at Ann Arbor. His research, performed at the Fermi National Accelerator Laboratory in Illinois, focused on measuring the magnetic moments and other properties of exotic subatomic particles. He also holds a Master’s degree in Management from the Averell Harriman School of Management and Policy from the State University of New York at Stony Brook. From 2000 to 2002, he was appointed Clinical Assistant Professor of Radiology at SUNY Downstate Medical Center in New York.
